VISITS (all day / half day)

* The Parliament (1h guided visit) visit the most beautiful Parliament in Europe

THEATRE and CONCERTS

* Budapest Spring Festival (20 March – 5 April 2009)

The Hungarian capital turns into an outstanding Cultural centre for two weeks. Every evening there are concerts of Hungarian orchestras, opera and operetta spectacles, jazz, dance, ballet and other presentations in participation of well-known Hungarian and foreign artists.

* Danube Concerts at the Danube Palace: "Concert of the Symphonic Orchestra"

* Folklore evening in the Danube Palace / in the Buda Vigadó: Multicoloured Hungarian folklore show presented by the Danube Folklore Ensemble or by the Rajkó Ensemble

* Operetta Theatre: Operetta or Musical in the beautiful art nouveau building of the Operetta Theatre

In medieval atmosphere – reception of the knights, knight-plays, renaissance dances, knight duel with medieval weapons, snack & wine on the roof terrace of the Salomon Tower. (duration: 3,5 h)

* Trip to Eger: Travel through the Mátra Mountains to Eger, one of Hungary's most beautiful baroque cities. Visit architectural monuments of the occupation time of the Turks: the Fortress, the Basilica, the Bishop Library of the 18th century etc. (incl. lunch in the "Valley of the Beautiful Lady" and choose the "Wine General")

option: Lippizzaner-stud inspection, horse-carriage drive and dinner

 

* Trip to Szilvásvárad: Visit the Lippizzaner-equeries, Hungarian stud farm, welcome drink, horse-carriage drive, railway course to the waterfalls of the "Szalajka-valley" with grilled trout for lunch or dinner.

* Hollók? Visit: The little village in north of Hungary, part of the UNESCO world-heritages. Women dressed in traditional Hungarian costumes welcome you, then demonstration of the old spinning and carving traditions, snack with wine, walk in the village, visit the Village museum as well as the Spinning Mill.

.option: Village program completed with lunch to Hungarian tunes, brandy and wine at local families, made on housewives kind.

* Trip to Lake Balaton I.: First you visit Balatonfüred with a walk on the promenade and the Peninsula Tihany with the Abbey. Afterwards you have lunch in a restaurant with excellent view on the Lake Balaton. Then you visit Castle Festetics in Keszthely

* boat-trip on the Lake Balaton (1 h), with lunch on a winegrower yard (boiler goulash made over open fire), with brandy and Hungarian pancakes

* Trip to Veszprém and Herend: Veszprém is an important medieval city of the time of Hungarian kings & queens. During the city-tour you see the Castle District, the Cathedral and the baroque houses. Later you drive to Herend and visit the Porcelanium, ease in the Confectionery Apicius with coffee & cakes.

* Wine-reads: in Hungarian tradition on a vineyard, pick and press the grapes while you watch a folklore show, then taste old and new wine during a meal

* Kalocsa program: City-tour in Kalocsa, visit the Railway-Station, the Paprika Museum, the Bishop Library etc. Organ concert in the Cathedral. Lunch in a typical "Csárda" with folklore program, brandy and wine / and wine-cellar visit in Hajós (wine-cellar village) with wine tasting

* Pannonhalma: Visit the oldest Benedict Abbey of Hungary (1,5 h guided visit)
